Saturday, April 12 2025 – Head of Statistics of Metro Municipality, Arum Purbowati, together with Head of BPS Lampung Province and Head of BPS Districts/Cities throughout Lampung Province, accompanied the Head of the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, in collecting data on rice tiles in Aji Egypt Village, Gedung Aji District, Tulang Bawang Regency.
Ubinan is a data collection method to determine the productivity of food crops by measuring harvest yields from a sample area of 2.5 m x 2.5 m. The data collected will become the basis for calculating national rice production and support the formulation of food policies that are right on target.
During the visit, the Head of Statistics Indonesia also had direct dialogue with farmers and regional officials. One of the main obstacles faced by farmers in Tulang Bawang is inadequate road access, especially during harvest. This condition makes it difficult for four-wheeled vehicles to reach rice fields, so farmers have to rely on two-wheeled vehicles at high costs, especially during the harvest season. Apart from that, the limited capacity of the Bulog KCP Menggala storage warehouse is also a challenge in itself, considering that the warehouse serves three districts at once.
This activity is a concrete manifestation of BPS's support for national priority programs, especially in supporting food security and achieving food self-sufficiency through the provision of accurate agricultural statistical data.
